Luke's a big brother! October 2008--December 2008

Well, Luke became a big brother October 30th at 2:44am! Little brother Joshua Marcel Morin arrived then...all 8 lbs, 9 oz, and 21 inches of him! Luke is still adjusting to having a little brother...it still makes him sad when the baby cries, but he is doing better every day. He had even kissed and given high-fives to Joshua! Luke has been trying lots of new foods lately...something he's been working on at school lately. He had chicken nuggets for lunch with Mama and Papa today, which was great! He attended the Winzip Holiday party and enjoyed the hot appetizers being passed around..these included chicken tenders, scallops wrapped in bacon, jalapeno poppers, mozzarella sticks and seafood puffs! We were thrilled! Luke had his first 90-minute delay AND his first snow day this week! We celebrated by going outside for a ride in the sled. Luke wasn't too excited, but he humored me. He definitely looked great in his snow gear! Luke still loves his trampoline and has recently been jumping on one foot...pretty cool stuff for a little kid! Stay tuned for more adventures of Luke and his new side-kick Joshua!
Big Boy Stuff October 2008

Luke is now up to a full day at preschool (9am to 2:40pm) and is doing very well. He is eating lunch at school and trying new foods. He even put a baby carrot in his mouth this week! He ended up spitting it out, but at least he tried it!! YAY! He also tried an M & M and spit that out as well...he'll figure that one out soon enough! Luke now takes the bus to and from school like a big boy! He is usually very serious when he gets on, but no tears at all...he even waves to Mama and Papa as he leaves! We are in the process of moving Luke into a new big boy room! His baby brother or sister will inherit the nursery and he will move to the next room down the hall. It is blue with a car/train/plane theme. Stay tuned for pictures when it's all done (hopefully very soon)!!
Luke's Summer Adventures (Summer 2008)

Well, it's been a while since we've added to Luke's blog, but we've had a busy summer! Luke graduated from Birth-to-Three and started a new Autism Preschool program at the Keeney Street School in Manchester at the end of April. He is doing really well. We and his teachers are really happy with his progress. He is slowly working up to a full day (9am to 2:40pm), which is a long day for a 3-year-old, but Luke is thriving in this program and it is just what he needs! He had a short break at the end of June and then attended the summer preschool program for the month of July. What a busy man!

July was a very busy month for our family. We spent a week in Lake George, NY with our friends Ben, Kim, and Kim's boys Ethan and Jake. Luke had a lot of fun, but woke up very early each day (between 4am and 5:30am) due to the new environment. Needless to say, Mama and Papa were EXHAUSTED by the end of the week! Luke did enjoy his first roller coaster ride and first boat ride on this trip!

Also in July, we had a visit from Sarah's brother and his family. We met up with them at the Saratoga County State Fair while we were still in NY and Luke enjoyed some rides and checking out the animals. This was also an opportunity for Luke to visit with his cousins Joe and Ellie! The following week we all came back to CT and had fun showing Joe and Ellie Kidcity Children's Museum, Rocky Neck State Park, and the Glastonbury Town pool!

Luke really loves swimming...he has figured out that when he has his life vest on, he can float and splash around without any help from Mama or Papa! Luke is also really enjoying jumping on his trampoline. He especially loves it when he's sung to while jumping! He is always signing for "music", which means Mama must sing any song she can think of! Some favorites are The ABC Song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, On Top of Spaghetti, and You Are My Sunshine. Another favorite pasttime of Luke's is watching Elmo videos! He really loves Elmo and is even starting to squeeze the hand of his Elmo doll to make him talk! This is a great acheivement since Luke doesn't really like the texture of stuffed animals! Luke has also been enjoying being pulled in the bike trailer by Papa. He loves watching the neighborhood fly by as Papa rides around!

Some big news is that Luke officially gave up his Paci! It really wasn't bad at all since we give him a Chewy Tube when he needs that type of input. It has been a wonderful substitute for the paci. Such a big boy!! And speaking of big boy, Luke will be moving into his new Big Boy Room soon! He will be giving his old baby room to his new baby brother or sister in just a couple more months! Stay tuned for more Luke and Baby updates!! Go to our Photos section to see pictures from the summer's activities...

Luke's 3-year check-up (5/5/2008)

Luke had his 3-year check-up today. He is now 39 lbs and 39.5 inches tall! These are the 97th and 92nd percentiles, respectively. He received 2 shots today, Varicella and his 2nd MMR. He was a trooper! Mommy brought the portable DVD player and Luke watched Elmo through the entire exam! The doctor thought it was great and wants to tell other parents to do the same! Hey, I say anything that works is awesome! Check back for more updates on Mr. Luke!
Luke turns 3 years old and goes to preschool! (4/30/2008)

Mr. Luke is now officially three years old! We can't believe it! He had a fun cookout birthday party that he shared with Auntie Christina, her sister Celeste (all 4/30), Pepere and Christina's dad (both 5/2)! The weather was great and a fun time was had by all. I thought he would enjoy a pan of Rice Krispie Treats instead of a cake, but Luke wasn't too interested in that either. He just had his usual applesauce dessert...what a guy! Luke got an awesome set of new "wheels" (aka tricycle) from Tony, Denise, Joe and Ellie. He is still getting the hang of it but we know he is going to be super fast very soon! Luke also received lots of awesome clothes for his birthday, which worked out great since he started preschool that same week! He definitely is the best dressed kid in the school! Luke is doing well adjusting to preschool. There are still some tears, but his teacher Hope reports that each day it's better and better. Right now he goes 2 1/2 hours per day, 5 days per week. As he gets more comfortable he will be staying through the afternoon to spend time in a preschool classroom with typical kids and other special ed kids. It will take time, but we think once Luke gets the hang of school, he will do great!! Stay tuned for more....
Luke turns 34 Months Old! (3/2/2008)

Well there's only 2 months until Luke hits the big 3! Mommy and Daddy can't believe how fast he's growing! Luke still continues to smile and giggle all day long....we are totally amazed! A new favorite activity for Luke is for Mommy or Daddy to sing a song and Luke will fill in the words with a sound. Luke is now consistently waving "Hi" and "Bye" when friends and family come and go! Luke is still a huge fan of cereal...his favorites being Cheerios, Kix, Heart to Heart, and Strawberry Fields. He is also still a huge fan of waffles and yogurt. Maybe once Luke turns 3 he will decide to expand his palate! Click here to see Luke's 34-month picture.
Recent Luke Adventures (11/07-1/08)

Luke is now 37 lbs and 37 inches tall! What a solid man! He is REALLY into Cheerios lately and LOVES his ball popper toy. He can say "Mama" and "Hi-eeeee" and will also imitate squeeking noises! His other favorite activities include playing his Alligator Piano, ring-around-the-rosy, Baby Einstein videos, reading books, and drawing. Another exciting event for Luke was that he had Munchkins for the first time thanks to Memere! YUM! Click here to see recent pictures of Luke.
Luke moves to a BIG BOY bed! (11/17/2007)

Luke is transitioning very well to a big-boy bed! We took the lower trundle bed and brought it into his room so it's very close to the floor. We put a bed rail on it and VOILA! It's a BIG BOY bed! He slept 13 hours the last 2 nights so we hope that trend continues. He was getting so big for his crib and he was bumping into the sides all the time. Plus, he was able to get his leg up over the rail...so it was definitely time to move to a bed. Click here to see pictures of Luke and his BIG BOY bed.
Luke is officially half-way through his "not-so-terrible-twos"! He does not have too many words yet, but he points and pulls us everywhere! Today he pointed to me and then pointed to a toy he wanted as if to say, "HEY YOU!!! Get me that !@#$%^ toy NOW!" Watch out when he does start talking! We will be in big trouble!
Recent Luke Adventures (July-October 2007)

Ok shame on Mommy for the lack of blog entries lately! We had a great summer! Luke loved his swimming lessons and going on playdates with his buddies Evan, Reese, Cooper, AJ, and Natalie! He is doing very well with his Birth to Three visits and is now drinking from a straw cup! YIPPEE!! He's also pulling us from room to room and toy to toy. Luke doesn't have too many words yet, but he certainly gets his point across! He loves Kix cereal and Mommy and Daddy are thinking of buying stock in the company!! Luke is also really into throwing/hitting/rolling/kicking balls! He is also really into his stacking peg toy and anything that plays music, especially the aquarium toy in his crib. Luke continues to be a happy and energetic little man and he certainly keeps Mommy and Daddy entertained! Click here for recent Luke pictures.
